Leaders tour new school

Kevin Smith, right, who will serve as the principal at the new Spring Creek Middle School, talks with Wayne County Commissioner Ed Cromartie, left, during a Monday afternoon tour of the school by commissioners and Board of Education. It is one of two new middle schools -- the other is in the Grantham community -- that are now under construction. Both schools are on schedule to be completed by early August. Both are energy efficient and will use solar energy to provide their power needs. The combined cost of the two projects is approximately $47 million.
