Investigators enter the front door of Kenneth Stancil III's home late Monday afternoon after receiving a warrant to search the trailer on Old Mount Olive Highway in Dudley for anything that could lead them to his whereabouts.

Wayne County investigators searched a mobile home Monday afternoon that reportedly belongs to Kenneth Morgan Stancil III, the man charged with fatally shooting Ron Lane on the Wayne Community College campus Monday morning.

And while they would not comment on what the uncovered inside the home, they left with multiple brown bags and black cases that appeared to be filled with evidence.

Among the items removed from the location was a long black case that was big enough to hold a long rifle, similar to the one Stancil allegedly used in the shooting.

The search covered four buildings, including the house next to Stancil's, which belongs to his grandparents.

Investigators also inspected two buildings behind the trailer -- a storage building and a barn -- and a green BMW, which was said to belong to Stancil.

Multiple family members, including Stancil's mother and two brothers, were present for the search, but declined to comment on the day's events involving their relative.

One neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous given the ongoing nature of the investigation, said while she did not know Stancil well, she had seen him in the past and he and his family had always been pleasant people.

She also told reporters that Stancil goes by Morgan, his middle name, and that the 20-year-old was the person who found his father dead in 2009 in one of the buildings that was searched behind the house.
