FAYETTEVILLE -- The "Lifeboats for Warriors Project Modelers Exhibition" is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 18 at the Kiwanis Recreation Center in Honeycutt Park at 352 Devers St., Fayetteville. Admission is $5 for the general public.
Hundreds of wood and plastic models will be on display, the announcement says. These include military vehicles and equipment, aircraft and maritime models, from tall ships to small pleasure craft. Some will be of museum-display quality.
A table will be set up where modeling techniques will be demonstrated to people interested in learning how to build their own models.
In addition, model builders who have pieces they would like to display are invited to bring them. Space will be made for them, said project coordinator Dave Bullock.
This event is to raise money for the Snowball Express program of the Gary Sinise Foundation. The Snowball Express is a camp for the children of military personnel who have died in the line of duty. For every $500 raised, one child is sent to the camp.
The activities include a public auction at 2 p.m. of models donated to the fund-raiser. Also, models especially built for the Lifeboats for Warriors Project will be sold for $25 each.
The Lafayette Scale Modelers of Fayetteville is hosting the event. For more information, call club president Mike Kloppenburg at 910-717-6586 or Bullock at 910-816-5293.
