"This is indeed a sad day for Wayne Community College and this close family and community. Our hearts are heavy at the loss of an employee, a valued employee, and we will soon be reaching out to the family. Our employees and students are to be commended for responding to our safety protocols efficiently and effectively. They were safe. They are safe, and we will be offering counseling services immediately to anyone who needs them. The rapid response from the city, the county, the state and federal first-responders has been remarkable and they are working diligently to apprehend the suspect."
