The Goldsboro Police Department is investigating seven reports of shots fired in the city, including three people shot since Thursday.

Investigators are also looking into an incident at the Waffle House on Wayne Memorial Drive Saturday that sent guests and employees scrambling.

Witnesses said an unknown black man entered the bathroom at the Waffle House located at 2000 Wayne Memorial Drive Saturday at 12:19 a.m. and fired a single shot into the wall behind the toilet. All of the employees and customers cleared the restaurant, then watched as the man exited the building. He got in his car, an unknown model black four-door passenger car with South Carolina plates, and drove off toward U.S. 70, the report said.

No one was injured.

Goldsboro police also followed up on shots fired reports Friday at 9:50 p.m. and Thursday at 11 p.m., in addition to three incidents of persons being shot in the city.

Capt. Dwayne Dean, acting as major in charge of the Goldsboro Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division, said it is unknown whether any of the cases might be related.

"At this point we do not know if they are connected or not, nothing is pointing us in that direction at this time," he said.

Dean also said that none of these shootings are connected to the shooting at a gas station across the street from Eastern Wayne High School March 31, which sent the school into lockdown for more than an hour. Nor are the shootings gang-related, he said.

"(The shootings are) not related to our knowledge and not gang-related to our knowledge," he said.

The shooting incidents are listed chronologically as follows:

* 11:30 p.m. Thursday, police receive several reports of two gray or light-colored cars shooting back and forth at one another in the 600 block of Wilmington Avenue.

* 2:45 p.m. Friday, a man is shot in the hip while breaking up a fight between two women.

* 9:50 p.m. Friday, police receive reports of shots fired in the roadway in front of 201 Bright St. Four spent .45 caliber shell casings are recovered at the scene, according to a police report.

* 12:19 a.m. Saturday, the bathroom wall is shot inside the Waffle House on Wayne Memorial Drive.

* 3:50 p.m. Saturday, a man is shot by a woman during an altercation that spilled over from an earlier incident. The shooting takes place in front of an apartment building at 200 Day Circle.

* 5:25 a.m. Sunday, Goldsboro police investigate several reports of shots fired near the area of Beech and North Claiborne streets.

* 10:30 p.m. Sunday, a man is shot in the leg when two men break into the home he shares with his girlfriend. The men were searching for drugs and shot the victim in the leg before leaving, the report said.
