A Princeton man is dead and charges are pending the outcome of a N.C. State Highway Patrol investigation following a fatal wreck on Princeton Road Monday.

Danny G. Pearce, 36, of Princeton died when he was struck on his moped by an SUV at 5:50 p.m., First Sgt. Jerry Burton said.

The driver of the SUV, Donna Howell, 43, also of Princeton, has not yet been charged.

"Ms. Howell was traveling south on Princeton Road. Mr. Pearce was traveling north on Princeton Road. Ms. Howell turned left into the path of Mr. Pearce," Burton said.

Pearce died as a result of the impact.

Burton said there were no road closures surrounding the wreck and that the investigation, being conducted by Trooper L.J. Bunn, is ongoing.

External factors that might have contributed to the wreck have yet to be determined.
