Help save a puppy

Dori needs a home for the new year -- and soon.

The 4 1/2-month-old black lab mix weighs about 25 pounds and is nothing but a big bundle of love.

She is very playful with lots of energy, and would be a great addition to a family with children who love to play as much as she does. She would also do just about anything for a treat, and loves walks and playing with toys.

But as active as she is, Dori just wants to be loved. She would be happy to just sit next to her family soaking up all the love she can. She loves to be petted and scratched all over. She will reward you with plenty of puppy kisses.

Dori is a bit of a ham, as evidenced when she proudly strutted her stuff in the Goldsboro Christmas parade recently.

She is, however, in great need of a home. She is healthy and happy, although being in the shelter is causing her a little stress. But because of the limited room, she has to find her new family quickly.

Are you the right family for this special pup?

Dori can be adopted from the Wayne County Animal Adoption and Education Center at 1600 Clingman St. Monday through Friday from noon to 5:30 p.m. and the first and third Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon.

You will need to fill out an application. Her adoption fee of $50 has been donated by the News-Argus. Dori's new family will also receive a puppy care package -- with all the essentials to get her off to the right start,
