It's a holiday week and Wayne Community College is still closed, but for those interested in registering for spring classes, related departments will be available this weekend.

"Full-Service Saturday" will be Jan. 3, with several departments and offices opening their doors to potential students from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Walk-in testing will also be available for curriculum students.

New and returning students can register for college credit (curriculum) and continuing education courses.

Admissions counselors and academic advisers will be on hand to meet with students.

Classes offered on campus and Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, as well as distance education courses, start Jan. 7.

The next opportunity to register for curriculum classes will be Monday, 8 a.m. until 7 p.m., and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Active duty military personnel may register for classes taught on Seymour Johnson Air Force Base 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., now through Jan. 7 at the WCC offices in the Watkins Das Base Education Center, with the exception of New Year's Day.

New students are required to complete the enrollment process, take placement tests and be accepted in order to register for classes. For more information on the steps involved, visit www.waynecc.edu/students-start-here/.

The deadline for tuition and fees to be paid for those who registered in November or December is Jan. 2 by noon. Those who register Jan. 3, 5 or 6 must pay by 4 p.m. on Jan. 6.

Financial aid options can be reviewed at  www.waynecc.edu/financial-aid/. The first step is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) which can be found at https://fafsa.ed.gov/.

Regardless of where they are in the admissions process, the FAFSA forms should be filled out.

The college also offers Nelnet, a financial aid option that allows students to pay half of their tuition in January and the balance in February. Personnel from that office will be on hand Saturday and again Monday and Tuesday for those registering for curriculum classes. For more information on Nelnet, visit www.mycollegepaymentplan.com.

A schedule of spring courses is available on campus and online, at www.waynecc.edu.
