Trumpet player Stephen Pachuta performs with the Embers band during their Christmas show last year. This year's show will be held Monday, Dec. 15, at Goldsboro High School.
Tickets are going fast for the Embers concert scheduled for Monday night at 7:30 p.m. at Goldsboro High School.
The renowned beach music band has performed a holiday concert to help the Empty Stocking Fund for the past several years and the event has become something of tradition, with fans young and old enjoying the beach-flavored Christmas show.
This year, the band has recruited several new members, including singer and frontman Craig Woolard and other new additions Andy Swindell, Hugh Blanton and Bob Nance.
Still getting in their licks are band founder and Goldsboro native Bobby Tomlinson, Stephen Pachuta and Jeff Grimes.
The audience can expect to hear many songs from the band's Christmas LP such as "I Love Christmas Music," "Shimmy in a Winter Wonderland," and standards like "Christmas Comes But Once a Year," and "Let It Snow."
Tomlinson helped found the band more than a half-century ago and has said in the past that the Goldsboro show is one of his favorites because it gives him a chance to see old friends and perform for new ones.
The band has recently been inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame. Few musical groups are as beloved, especially in their home state.
Tickets can be obtained by calling 919-739-7905. Cost is $20 for adults and $10 for children ages 12 and under. VIP tickets cost $35 and provide prime seating with a chance to meet the band.
