Christmas wreaths adorn graves in a veterans cemetery. Wreaths Across America aims to place a wreath on every veteran's grave at the holidays.
The deadline for donations to "Wreaths Across America," a project to place a wreath on the grave of every veteran, is drawing near.
On Saturday, Dec. 13, at noon, ceremonies will be held across the nation to lay the wreaths in honor of the service men and women.
In Wayne County, the ceremony will be observed at Evergreen Cemetery on U.S. 70 West with veterans groups and Seymour Johnson AFB Honor Guard.
The local branch of the organization will be receiving donations until Dec. 1. The money will cover the cost of laying a wreath on the grave of every veteran buried at Evergreen -- all 450 of them.
The cost of a wreath is $15. They can be ordered by mailing a check made payable to Wreaths Across America to Miss Goldsboro Emily Tucker at 204 Creekside Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
Grave-specific requests are most welcome.
Not only are donations needed, but volunteers to help lay the wreaths.
For more information, call Miss Tucker at 919-920-3250.
Wreaths Across America is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization. All contributions are tax deductible.
