The last of the six initial suspects in the Oct. 31 murder of Shanekqua Thompson, 21, is in custody, the Goldsboro Police Department said today.

Additional arrests are expected.

"There will be multiple additional charges against the six," Maj. Al King said. And there could potentially be more arrests made in the case, he added.

"At this point we have identified most of the shooters. I cannot say for certain we have identified all of the shooters. They were all acting in concert, and so you have the murder charges," King said.

Ms. Thompson died when the minivan she was riding in was ambushed Halloween night after several previous incidents of violence between the Kinston Six and a Goldsboro faction of youth had unfolded in previous weeks, he said.

Shots rang out on Sixth and Humphrey streets causing the van to veer off the road into a wooded area. Bullets of several different calibers slammed through the minivan's doors and windows.

Of the four passengers police believe were in the vehicle, only two were hit -- Deonte Morrison, 20, wounded in the leg and arm -- and Ms. Thompson, a mother of three young children, who was fatally wounded in the attack.

Morrison would later be located by police at Sampson County Hospital.

An entire team of GPD investigators worked around the clock from the time of the shooting -- about 3 a.m. Oct. 31 -- up until the arrest of the first three suspects Nov. 13.

Police charged Rahmel Maurice Phillips, 24, Cequon Aredale Phillips, 22, and Joshua M. Collins, 24, each with an open count of murder after several hours of interviews at GPD headquarters.

A fourth suspect, Anthony Graham, 30, turned himself in to GPD investigators Friday. A fifth man, Alquan Hill, 24, apprehended and jailed in Kinston Sunday, was turned over to the Wayne County Jail early Monday.

And lastly, today at 4:33 a.m., Kinston investigators turned Davine Marquis Carr, 20, over to Goldsboro police to be charged with murder.

King said GPD and Kinston Public Safety have been putting their heads to together to see just how many crimes might be solved -- both in Kinston and in Goldsboro -- by the current investigation.

"Kinston Public Safety and our guys have been bumping heads over what acts took place there and what ones here," King said.

Among the acts of violence King spoke of that culminated in the Oct. 31 attack were several shootings in Goldsboro including a chase throughout the city just days before the killing.

"The Waffle House and McDonald's, when they were hit, you will remember there were several shootings reported that night, that was these guys chasing each other around town," King said.

Members of each faction might be charged in those acts as the investigation progresses.

"We know of a couple different incidents involving this band of characters. We will continue to investigate and will have to do some ballistics comparisons on shells from these different sites," King said.
