A First Fleet employee working on his truck late Sunday suffered a stab wound to the abdomen while fighting off an armed robber.
The incident took place in the First Fleet parking lot at 400 W. Holly St. at 11:45 p.m.
Robert Boswell, 34, of Goldsboro, told investigators he was moving the cover for his trailer when he heard a voice behind him, a Goldsboro police report said.
Boswell turned around to see a black man wielding a knife. Boswell gave the man his wallet when instructed to do so, but then grabbed for the man and a struggle took place.
During the fight, Boswell was stabbed in the abdomen at least once.
Boswell was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released early today, hospital communications director Georgia Dees said.
The unidentified robber made off with Boswell's wallet and its contents, including a $50 Walmart gift card, $125 in cash and a driver's license.
No further description of the suspect was listed on the report, other than a black male wearing a black hoodie.
An investigator has been assigned to the case.
