A LaGrange man claims to have been shot in the Linclon Homes community in Goldsboro on Monday.

Investigators with the Goldsboro Police Department, however, are looking into the possibility he was shot somewhere else.

Brandon Hue Pridgen, 20, of 5338 Heritage Wood Lane in LaGrange, could not identify who shot him, the report said.

The shooting allegedly took place in the 900 block of Hugh Street at 12:20 p.m., but investigators have not yet been able to confirm the man's account.

Sgt. Jeremy Sutton said he could not reveal what led investigators to suspect the shooting might not have occurred in Lincoln Homes, but acknowledged it was still possible the victim might be telling the truth.

"If someone is going around shooting in Lincoln Homes, we need to find out why," he said.

Pridgen told police he was walking in Lincoln Homes when he heard gunshots. He was struck in the left calf and the left ring finger.

According to the report, Pridgen ran for a few blocks after being shot and called his sister to come take him to the hospital.

He was questioned at the emergency room by police but signed a non-cooperation form, forcing the investigation to head in a different direction.

Sutton said investigators have been assigned to the case and are looking into where else the shooting might have happened.
