Pikeville police chief resigns

PIKEVILLE -- Police Chief Joe Sadler has resigned.
Mayor Glenn Hartman confirmed that the lawman's resignation letter was dated Sept. 30 and the effective date of his resignation is Oct. 31.
But the reason Sadler's is leaving the post is less clear, as he cited only "personal reasons" for stepping down.
"He has been great. (Town leadership) has no problem with him and he has solved quite a few situations here," Hartman said. "Sometimes, people just have things they have to work out."
Sadler did not respond to repeated attempts for comment.
Hartman said the search for a new chief is ongoing.
