UMO's Harrison lectures Sept. 29-30

MOUNT OLIVE -- The 25th annual Vivian B. Harrison Memorial Lecture will be held on two days later this month at Rodgers Chapel on the University of Mount Olive campus.
Dr. Willie Jennings will be the guest speaker. Jennings is the author of "The Christian Imagination: Theology and the Origins of Race" and numerous articles.
The first lecture will be held on Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. The next lecture will be held on Sept. 30 at 9 a.m. and will be followed by an 11 a.m. worship service.
Apart from writing, Jennings teaches in the areas of systematic theology and black church and cultural studies, and his research interests include these areas as well as liberation theologies, cultural identities, and anthropology. His lecture will be on the topic of theology and race.
The Vivian B. Harrison Lecture was established by the Rev. Frank R. Harrison, a longtime professor at the university, in memory of his late wife.
