Norwayne alumni reunion set for Aug. 29-31

Norwayne Alumni & Friends will celebrate its 42nd reunion on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 29-Aug. 31.
This year's theme is "Lion Pride, Keeping the Golden Dream Alive." Activities will begin with a social at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Norwayne Alumni & Friends Community Center at 106 E. Branch St. in Fremont.
Saturday activities include the annual parade in Fremont, NC starting at 10 a.m. at the M.L.K. Park, Ballance Road, proceed down Main Street and end at the park; the banquet at 6 p.m. and dance at 9 p.m. will be held at the H.V. Brown Hall at the Dillard/Goldsboro Alumni Cultural Center at 801 Poplar St., in Goldsboro.
The banquet speaker will be Bishop Bobby G. Holmes, pastor of Deliverance Church of Christ, Carmody Hills, Maryland, and 1962 graduate of Norwayne School.
The Sunday morning worship service at 11 a.m. will be held at the Norwayne Alumni & Friends Community Center in Fremont. Eldress Doris Edmundson Lewis, a 1962 graduate of Norwayne, will deliver the morning message.
The weekend's activities will culminate with a gospelfest Sunday at 6 p.m. at St. James Disciples Church of Christ at 514 Memorial Church Road in Fremont.
Proceeds from the weekend activities will benefit the scholarship fund and Community Center building fund.
