An Albertson man is recovering at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville today after he was shot in the leg during a robbery and attempted kidnapping Sunday.

The incident unfolded between 2 and 4 a.m., according to a Goldsboro police report.

Justin Edward Kornegay, 24, told Goldsboro police he was forced into his car at gunpoint and made to drive to several locations around Wayne County.

The gunman then forced him to stop at a Cashpoints ATM in Mount Olive and withdraw money. The report did not say how much money was taken.

The ordeal came to an end when the gunman ordered Kornegay to stop at a residence at 316 Fedelon Trail. Once they reached the residence, the suspect shot him, according to the police report.

Briana Lashae Oliver, 19, of Raleigh, then drove Kornegay to Wayne Memorial Hospital. Goldsboro police were called to the scene.

Investigators have developed a suspect but are not yet releasing a name.

Charges are expected to be filed later today.
