The Goldsboro Police Department, Wayne County Sheriff's Office and Pikeville Police Department joined forces Friday night, setting up three separate DWI checkpoints throughout Wayne County.

The measure is part of the Governor's Highway Safety Plan's "Booze It and Lose It" program.

A total of 35 officers issued 65 citations including two for driving while intoxicated and five drug violations, according to a press release.

The law enforcement agencies came together in an effort to make the roadways safer for the motoring public, the press release said.

Twelve others were charged with driving while their license was revoked and 13 were charged with driving without a license. Also recorded were two child restraint violations and 31 other minor vehicle and criminal violations.
