Students, parents invited to schools

Wayne County Public Schools teachers started back to school today to prepare their classrooms for students, who will arrive next Monday.

Wayne County Public Schools is gearing up for the upcoming school year, which starts next Monday.

Two schools, Wayne Early/Middle College High School and Wayne School of Engineering, already resumed classes earlier this month.

The remaining 29 public schools will offer open house opportunities this week for parents to meet teachers and to become familiar with expectations for the students.

Middle and high schools will hold open house on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Elementary schools, along with Grantham School, will host events on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Some schools are also holding special events.

On Tuesday, Spring Creek High will hold a sixth-grade open house from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m.

A sixth-grade open house at Rosewood Middle will begin at 5 p.m.

Eastern Wayne Middle will have sixth-grade open house from 5 to 7 p.m.

Wednesday afternoon, Eastern Wayne High will conduct a freshman and new student orientation from 1 to 3 p.m.

Edgewood Community Developmental School will hold special one-on-one mini conferences with parents on Thursday between the hours of 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. School officials are requesting parents new to the area or who have changed contact information to call the school to schedule a meeting time.
