The 31st Annual National Night Out is set for Aug. 5, and will once again be held in Herman Park.
Festivities get under way at 6 p.m.
"Come out and see what's new this year," event organizer Cpl. Marrisa Davis said.
Cpls. Davis, Robbie Jones and Ronald McDuffie, of the Goldsboro Police Department's Crime Prevention Office, head up the community event each year. This year, they promise a new look.
"We are moving the stage to the Herman Street side of the park, and the flow of vendors will be rearranged from previous years," Cpl. Davis said.
This year's guest speaker will be Wayne County Health Department Director Davin Madden.
Madden was selected based on his community involvement, and due to the county's shift toward a more health conscious interaction with citizens, she said.
Vendors participating in this year's night out include the Wayne County Health Department, the domestic violence shelter, Rebuilding Broken Places, Wayne Community College, Crime Stoppers, The Goldsboro Police Explorers and The United States Marine Corps recruiters office, among others.
Cpl. Davis said the community event provides a fun and safe opportunity for citizens to interact with law enforcement in a different atmosphere.
"Come out and enjoy a safe, drug-free and crime-free night out," she said.
