Man charged in shooting incident

A Wayne County man has been arrested for his alleged connection to a shooting incident.
Dwayne Alan Smith, 193 Mull Smith Lane, was charged with discharging a weapon into a moving vehicle and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and inflicting serious injury.
Smith, who was arrested by Det. Sgt. Darren Craig, has been placed under a $100,000 secure bond.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office responded to a call about a breaking and entering in progress on Tuesday and learned that a part-time resident of the dwelling was entering the building when the individual encountered a known female acquaintance and Smith.
Smith allegedly retrieved a .22 caliber rifle and chased the individual out of the house.
The individual jumped in his truck and began to flee the scene before Smith fired the rifle three times into the truck as the individual was driving away.
