Patrol officers with the Goldsboro Police Department arrested two men in connection with a breaking and entering Wednesday morning.

B-Shift officers responded to a breaking and entering in progress at 1808 Rose St. at 8:45 a.m., according to a press release issued early today.

Maleek Anton Phillips, 22, 611 S. Randolph St., and Tristan Meonda Atkinson, 19, 103 Rocky Court, were seen fleeing the area on foot and arrested, the press release said.

Both were charged with breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods.

Phillips is currently being held in the Wayne County Jail under a $6,000 secured bond.

Atkinson, also charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance on jail premises, is being held under a $9,500 secured bond.

Phillips and Atkinson allegedly knocked on the back door of the residence and forced their way in. The resident, Jalen Deshawn Lewis, 20, ran out the front door to a neighbor's house and called 911, according to the police report.

Police responded and identified the suspects fleeing from the scene.

After a short foot pursuit, the officers were able to catch both suspects at 1801 Peachtree St., according to the arrest reports.

The stolen property included a 42-inch flat screen TV, gold jewelry, eyeglasses and sunglasses ranging in value from $360 to $960, prescription pain pills and a 42-inch 3D TV, all of which were recovered except for one of the televisions.
