The seventh annual Community Unity Day will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Mina Weil Park.
The free event is sponsored by the National Entrepreneurial Skills Training Institute, Inc. to bring the community together to focus on and talk about the positive things going on in the community, said Dawud Salaam, one of the organizers.
But it also is an opportunity to talk about community issues, such as unemployment, he said.
The day's events will include family softball, a baseball clinic, three-legged races, bouncy rides and a magic show.
Community awards will be presented to those who are making a difference in the community, Salaam said.
The event will include an open microphone where people will have the opportunity to speak on community issues, sing or recite poetry, he said.
Dillard Charter School students will participate as well and in the past has provided a drum squad and cheerleaders, Salaam said.
Other sponsors are Case Farms, Mt. Olive Pickle Co., The Ice Storm and The Village Rising.
