Thousands of alumni from local high schools will be descending upon Goldsboro over the next few days to greet old friends and renew old bonds as the Dillard-Goldsboro and Central-Eastern Wayne alumni groups gather for their annual reunions.
It is the 59th reunion for the Dillard-Goldsboro High School Alumni and Friends reunion and the 42nd year for the Central-Eastern Wayne Alumni and Friends.
Events begin Thursday night with the Dillard-Goldsboro scholarship and awards program at Goldsboro High School and queen/king reception to follow at the H.V. Brown Hall.
Contestants for the Dillard-Goldsboro queen/king are: Alecia Britt Pierce, a 1984 GHS graduate who is representing the Washington, D.C. chapter of the alumni association; Angie Woods of the Class of 1986, representing the New York chapter; and William Earl Woodard, a member of the Class of 1961, representing the Goldsboro chapter.
The Central-Eastern Wayne reunion will be featuring the classes whose numbers end in 4 and 9. It will begin Friday with a banquet at 7 p.m. at Best Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Events for both groups will continue through the weekend, with parades, picnics and parties on Friday and Saturday and worship services on Sunday.
