Video store fire shuts down traffic

Goldsboro Fire Department and Wayne County EMS responded to Southside Video, 1505 U.S. 117 S., Monday just before 5 p.m., shutting down the right southbound lane of traffic for approximately an hour. GFD Capt. Carlton Parks said an electrical fire started in the attic, causing an estimated $1,000 in damage.
A fire at an adult video store Monday started in the attic, Goldsboro Fire Department Capt. Carlton Parks said.
The cause was electrical.
Firefighters and Wayne County EMS responded to Southside Video at 1505 U.S. 117 S., Monday just before 5 p.m.
Smoke poured from under the eves of the roof.
Goldsboro police blocked the right lane of the southbound portion of the highway from just before the merge with South George Street.
Rush hour traffic reduced to a crawl.
Crews were able to run hoses and ventilate the building, extinguishing the fire.
The fire department remained on scene for more than an hour.
The damage was limited to an estimated $1,000, Parks said.
The building, owned by Terrance Anthony Kozol, is valued at $200,000.
