The Top 13 on "American Idol" performed Wednesday night, with Goldsboro's Majesty Rose York making a strong showing in front of the judges.
Several changes to the show's format were also announced, which will make voting much easier for the public.
"This year there are more ways to weigh in than ever before," show host Ryan Seacrest said.
New ways to vote for Season 13 include "855" toll-free numbers, extended hours to cast votes and contestants keeping the same number throughout the season. And no longer do viewers have to wait until the show is over to begin calling, texting or going online.
Now, voting begins when the show starts. There is the option of the "Super Vote" at AmericanIdol.com or on the American Idol app, with the capability of voting up to 50 times per method (text or call). A new platform this year is through Google -- search for "American Idol" or "Idol" and you will be directed on ways to vote.
Phone and text voting closes two hours after the show airs, but the Google method and Super Vote stay open until 10 a.m. (Pacific Time) the next day.
Majesty's number for the season is 855 4 IDOL 07 or 1-855-443-6507. She can also be followed on Twitter @PSMajestyRose or on Instagram at PSMajesty Rose.
The show's theme Wednesday, "This is Me," provided a way for viewers to get better acquainted with the contestants. Each got to select a song that represented what defines them as an artist and a person, and was asked to share five things about themselves.
"I'm born on a leap year, I'm left-handed, I longboard, I do ballet and I like to make my hair bigger," Majesty said in her segment.
She chose to sing "Tightrope" by Janelle Monae.
"It's a balance to do everything in life," she said before stepping out on stage. "For me, I'm always trying to find the balance between humility and confidence."
All three judges gushed about her performance.
"That was a killer song choice. It really was," Keith Urban said. "(Janelle) really taps in your vocal range. Just the spirit of it and your personality really comes out in that."
"You do have your own style. I just love your individuality. There's nobody like you, Majesty," Jennifer Lopez told her. "Singing that song was so perfect for you. Everything about it, watching you work the stage, the different ways that the rhythm hits your body and how you decide to move.
"Seriously, everybody does not do that. It's very natural to you. You're not even thinking about it, but as somebody who has to look at it and judge all the time, I see it in you and you're blessed. You're really blessed."
Judge Harry Connick Jr. said, "I think my favorite thing about you, like Jennifer said, is that mystery and how that mystery's going to unravel because there's so many different types of music that I think you have the ability to sing. That was terrific, Majesty. That really was."
Will Majesty Rose make it through to the next round of the competition? Tune in tonight for the results, airing on Fox from 8-9 p.m.
Or if you'd like to watch it with other fans, there is a viewing party tonight at the YMCA from 7:30 until 9. Weekly viewing parties there are being planned as her journey continues.
