Fans watch a recap of Majesty Rose's performance from the previous night as they wait for the results.

Majesty Rose got the best possible birthday present Thursday night -- moving forward as a Top 12 contestant on "American Idol."

Today is her 22nd birthday.

The Goldsboro native continues to do well in the reality show contest, earning accolades from the judges and enough votes from the nation to keep her in the competition.

This week marked the first elimination show since the Top 13 contestants were named.

As the hour-long results show began, the outcome of the call, text and online voting was unknown. But by the midway point of the show, Majesty Rose had been declared "safe" and able to return to her seat on the stage.

That means her journey on the show continues.

Her next opportunity to sing will come Wednesday night, when the show returns from 8-10 p.m. on Fox TV. Results, and another person facing expulsion, will air on Thursday at 8 p.m.
