The Goldsboro Police Department is investigating the beating of a man found injured in his home Wednesday.
Mac Bizzell, 39, returned to the home he shares with Robert Lee Davis, 62, at 902 Newsome St., to find Davis with a cut on his head and blood on his face.
Bizzell told police he was gone from 1 to 7:30 p.m. When he came home, he heard Davis breathing heavily and looked in on him. He saw that Davis was injured and he called 911.
Wayne County EMS 61 transported Davis to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment.
No suspect information was listed on the report, nor was anything reported stolen. Investigators have confirmed, however, the assault took place inside the residence.
The matter is being investigated as an assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
