Conference is planned for Saturday

Helping give women and girls a fresh sense of self-esteem will be the focus of a conference to be held Saturday at The Bridge Church in Princeton.
Beverly Weeks and Sherry Jennings plan to focus on showing attendees how to build self-esteem at the second annual Intentionally and Wonderfully Made "Girls Morning Out" at The Bridge Church in Princeton on Saturday.
"We really want to emphasize self-esteem and self-worth this year," Mrs. Weeks said. "I'm going to be sharing about why women do not feel beautiful."
"Or too fat or too skinny or comparing ourselves to someone else," added Mrs. Jennings, who serves as Marriage & Family Life pastor at The Bridge with her husband, Scott.
"Why do we believe those things?" Mrs. Weeks asked rhetorically.
The women promise to tackle the topic during this year's program, along with a special guest speaker, Dove Award winner Sara Groves.
The program will run from 9:30 a.m. until noon. But there will be plenty of time for shopping before and afterwards.
Doors open at 8:30 a.m., with more than 55 vendors on site -- from Pampered Chef and Origami Owl to Bake My Day, and featuring representatives of services from massages to facials and products from jewelry to pocketbooks. Each vendor also offers a door prize.
The event wraps up at 2 p.m.
There also will be snack foods for sale and a soup and sandwich lunch will be available for $5, provided by a Kentucky missions team.
Admission is $5 per person in advance or $10 at the door. Tickets can be purchased online at www.bridgechurch.cc or at The Bridge, formerly Whitley Church, just off U.S. 70 West, weekdays from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Instead of paper tickets, admission will actually be in the form of a green wristband that bears the message, "I am intentionally made."
Last year's event drew 1,100 women, Mrs. Weeks said, who pointed out it is not limited to adult females.
"We would love to have teenagers there because there are so many lies we believe about ourselves from society," she said. "We're seeing pre-teens looking in the mirror, self-esteem (issues) in younger girls starting as young as 5 and 6."
In addition to music, messages and worship, there will be a resource table with information, books and study guides.
