Details are sketchy in two separate shootings that happened between noon Friday and early Saturday morning that left one man dead and another injured.
Goldsboro police were called to the 700 block of North Virginia Street at 12:10 p.m. Friday after receiving a report that a man had been shot.
When officers arrived they found the body of Tony Jermaine Lewis, of 42, of 802 W. Grantham St.
The Criminal Investigation Division, along with the Crime Scene Unit, responded to the scene to conduct the investigation, canvass the area and process the scene.
The second shooting happened at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, when police responded to a shots fired call in the 100 block of S. Kornegay St.
When officers arrived they found Jamaine Rivers, 22, of 315 E. Walnut St., Apt. 1F, at the corner of Kornegay and Walnut streets. He had been shot in his left leg just below the knee.
Rivers said he did not know who shot him and did not provide a description of any suspects. He was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A second listed victim, Terry Taylor, 30, of 817 Crawford St., was found at the magistrate's office. Police said Taylor told them he did not know anything either.
The police report did not say however, how, or if, Taylor was injured, or why he was at the magistrate's office.
Police said the investigation revealed the shooting had actually taken place in the area of 501 E. Chestnut St.
