Closings planned on holiday

Federal, state and local offices, banks and Postal Service offices will be closed Wednesday in observance of the New Year's Day holiday.
Wayne County offices, the county landfill and convenience sites will be closed.
Town halls in Mount Olive, Goldsboro, Seven Springs, Pikeville, Fremont, Eureka and Walnut Creek will be closed.
Wayne County Public Schools are closed as well. Students will return to class on Thursday.
In Goldsboro, sanitation services in the city will continue as scheduled during the holiday.
Trash will be picked up today and recycling will be collected Thursday in Walnut Creek.
In Fremont, trash pickup will not be affected by the change, but recyclables pickup will be pushed back to Thursday.
Carolina Southern Sanitation's pickup schedule will not be affected by the holiday.
