A Goldsboro man is in the Wayne County Jail today, held without bond, after he allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend with a hammer.
Goldsboro police charged Kenneth Preston Sutton, 35, 1903-B E. Holly St., with assault with a deadly weapon Thursday when they responded to his address for a domestic disturbance at 9:46 p.m.
The victim, Whitney Harrington, 19, of East Elm Street, told police she and Sutton were arguing when the dispute became physical.
She alleges he bit her on the side and then hit her several times with a hammer, according to the report.
En route to the Wayne County Magistrate's Office to fill out domestic violence paperwork, Ms. Harrington began to complain about pain in her side, the report said.
Wayne County EMS responded to the magistrate's office and transported Ms. Harrington to Wayne Memorial Hospital where she was treated by a staff physician.
