Man charged in attack on girlfriend

A Hugh Street woman was held against her will and beaten inside the vehicle of her assailant just before 11 a.m. Thursday, according to a Goldsboro police report.
The woman's sister was able to rescue her and call police.
Travis Earl Atkinson, 24, 907 S. Madison Ave., faces charges of second-degree kidnapping and assault on a female and is currently being held without bond in the Wayne County Jail.
According to a Goldsboro police report, Atkinson began arguing with his girlfriend, Ashley Moseley, 25, of Hugh Street, inside his vehicle. He then began to strike her about her body and refused to let her out of the car.
Atkinson then drove from Hugh Street to Madison Avenue where Ms. Moseley was finally able to escape when her sister used her vehicle to block his in.
She took Ms. Moseley home and called 911. Wayne County EMS responded and transported Ms. Moseley to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Police located and arrested Atkinson at his home without incident at 1:39 p.m.
