A new health care agency opened late last month in Wayne County -- one devoted to the prevention, care and education of people affected by sickle cell disease, as well as HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.

The organization, Community Health Interventions and Sickle Cell Agency, also seeks to help people with diabetes manage their disease.

Located at 1202-C Wayne Memorial Drive, CHISCA Goldsboro will collaborate with a statewide network of providers who track and respond to the needs of people with sickle cell disease and sickle cell trait by way of care coordination.

CHISCA Goldsboro can be reached at 919-988-8005.
