A gunman entered the Adams Mimi Mart at 2000 N. William St. as it was closing Saturday, taking money from the register.
The robbery happened just before 9 p.m., according to a Goldsboro police report.
The store clerk told investigators the robber jumped onto the counter, pointed a silver handgun at her head and told her to open the register.
She told investigators the gunman instructed her several times to, "open the register or I will shoot you."
The clerk crouched behind the counter initially but managed to open the register and allow the robber to take the money. He then left with an undisclosed amount and might have fled toward Orange Street.
The suspect was described as a black man about 5-foot-5 with a stocky build. A witness said he saw two men walking behind the store, one of them shorter than the other and possibly crouching down.
Anyone with information regarding the robbery at the Adams Mini Mart is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255, or text tips to 919-222-4230.
