A Seven Springs woman and her two children were killed in a two-vehicle accident on the outskirts of Mount Olive Friday night.
First Sgt. Jeff Gordon, public information officer with the state Highway Patrol, said Saturday that a trooper responded to the scene on N.C. 55 east of Mount Olive at around 7:30 p.m.
According to the accident report, Carmen Rosa Lopez Franqui, 42, of 1641 Camp Jubilee Road, Seven Springs, was driving a 2001 Honda Accord traveling west on N.C. 55. Evidence indicated that her car left the roadway on the right and that she over-corrected and came back onto the roadway but did not regain control.
The vehicle crossed the center line and was struck in the right passenger door by a 2011 Dodge truck driven by Jody Baggett, 57, of Clifton, Texas.
Mrs. Franqui and her two sons, Wilber Trochez, 11, and Anthony Trochez, 9, were killed in the crash and pronounced dead at the scene.
Gordon said that alcohol or speed did not appear to be contributing factors in the crash and restraints appeared to have been worn by the occupants in the car.
As of press time, no charges had been filed.
