Goldsboro man charged in fatal Wilson wreck

Sameer Patel, 20, of Goldsboro, faces involuntary manslaughter and DWI charges following a fatal accident in Wilson on Friday.
Patel, of 109 Brighton Drive, allegedly ran a stop sign on Hines Street in Wilson shortly after 5 p.m., killing the driver of the vehicle he collided with, according to a Wilson Police Department press release.
Samantha Colvin, 48, of Wilson, was driving a Toyota truck with her 21-year-old daughter Maryse Colvin and her mother, Martha Hinnant, 67, in the vehicle as passengers.
Ms. Hinnant was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville and Miss Colvin was treated and released from Wilson Memorial Hospital.
Ms. Hinnant's condition was unknown at press time.
Patel also faces charges for simple possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, felony serious injury for impaired driving and failing to stop for a stop sign.
He was placed in the Wilson County Jail under a $25,000 secured bond.
The accident is still under investigation by the Wilson Police Department.
