AgCarolina scholarships awarded

AgCarolina Farm Credit awarded a total of $9,500 in scholarships to 13 deserving students through their corporate-giving program, the Fund for Rural North Carolina. Among the local students earning scholarships were Elizabeth Price of Mount Olive and Franklin Scott of Lucama, who each received $1,000.

The scholarships will help the recipients fund their education while learning skills that will benefit farmers and rural residents in the communities of eastern North Carolina where the Association conducts business. Dave Corum, CEO said, "AgCarolina Farm Credit is committed to the future of rural America. Through its scholarship programs, AgCarolina seeks to invest in the farmers and future leaders of our rural communities."

In addition to the above scholarships, five $2,000 scholarships to North Carolina State University for students who are currently enrolled in or will be pursuing a degree in the ag curriculum will be awarded. Also, five $750 scholarships to the NCSU Ag Institute will be awarded. Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students who are currently enrolled in or will be pursuing a degree in the ag curriculum at North Carolina A&T State University. AgCarolina Farm Credit is a farmer owned financial cooperative with headquarters in Raleigh.
