Schedule set for July 4 week

Federal, state and local offices, the post office and banks will be closed Thursday in observance of the Fourth of July holiday.

Goldsboro and Mount Olive will also celebrate the day with traditional fireworks displays.

All Wayne County government offices, as well as town halls in Goldsboro, Mount Olive, Pikeville, Fremont, Eureka and Walnut Creek, will be closed. Seven Springs Town Hall will not be affected since it is not normally open on Thursdays.

All sanitation services for Thursday will be serviced on Wednesday, July 3, in Goldsboro

In Mount Olive, the town's Recyclable Center will not be affected. Thursday's yard waste pick up route will be on Wednesday and Friday's schedule will be normal. Household garbage pickup will be on Friday and Saturday instead of Thursday and Friday.

In Pikeville, garbage will be picked up on Friday.

The closing does not affect garbage pickup in Eureka and Fremont.

Walnut Creek recyclables will be picked up on Friday instead of Thursday.

Carolina Southern Sanitation will be closed Wednesday, July 3, and Thursday, July 4. Customers normally serviced on Thursday will have their garbage collected on Friday. Customer who are normally serviced on Friday will be serviced on Saturday.

The Berekely Mall fireworks display will be Thursday night at 9 p.m.

The Mount Olive Exchange Club will host its annual July 4 picnic from 5 to 7 p.m. at Westbrook Park in Mount Olive. The event will feature food, a children's parade, entertainment by the Harmony Boys and bingo.

The Mount Olive's fireworks display, sponsored by the Mount Olive Jaycees, has been moved to the weekend because of scheduling conflicts with Hale Artificers, the company that launches the fireworks.

The event will be held at the Mount Olive Airport starting after sunset, or around 9 p.m. Saturday, July 6.

The display should last for about 30 minutes and end with a grand finale.
