A Pikeville man wanted since January 2009 for drug trafficking charges was arrested Tuesday in Emerald Isle.
He was able to elude law enforcement for almost five years.
According to a press release issued by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, Richard Steven Stonerock, 49, was involved in a drug trafficking investigation.
Stonerock managed to escape from officers trying to arrest him on Jan. 8, 2009 and has been wanted ever since.
Anonymous tips led the Emerald Isle Police Department to Stonerock, living in Johnston County under the alias Jimmy Taylor. Stonerock was arrested without incident and has since been transferred to the Wayne County Jail.
He is being held under a $100,000 secured bond and several charges including four counts of trafficking cocaine, on count each of possession of a firearm by a felon, maintaining a dwelling or vehicle for the purposes of a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and fleeing to elude arrest.
