The Goldsboro City Council will meet Monday at 5 p.m. in room 206 of the City Hall annex to discuss the city's 2013-2014 budget as well as an offer to purchase the building and property at 2406 E. Ash St.

During the work session before the council's regular meeting begins in the City Council Chambers at 7 p.m., the council will discuss replacing power poles in downtown Goldsboro as well as the Envision 35: Goldsboro Urbanized Area Comprehensive Plan.

At the meeting, the council will vote on two budget amendments, the first a land purchase option for the two adjacent properties to the former Arts Council of Wayne County building at 2406 East Ash St.

The city could purchase the option for $6,000 and would extend until December 2013.

The option allows the city exclusive rights to purchase the two properties for $223,000.

This is the same property that the council is considering an offer on during the work session as well as the contract for the demolition of the structure set to begin May 20.

The second budget amendment will go to the approval of directing $23,000 for the purchase of a new pick-up truck for the Goldsboro Fire Department.

The city will hold a public hearing to allow citizens of Goldsboro to express their concerns regarding housing needs in the community as they relate to the Community Development Block Grant and Home Investment Partnership Programs.

Council members also will discuss an agreement between the state Department of Transportation and the city for the construction of sidewalks.
