Wayne County Public Schools science fair winners announced

Wayne County Public Schools' annual science fair was held Jan. 12 at Greenwood Middle School.
The following is a complete list of winners and their categories in the local contest.
K-12 Division Winner: Isaiah Austin of Meadow Lane Elementary School
Grades 3-5 winners: Zyaire Webb* of Meadow Lane, first place; Alyse Gaskins* of Carver Heights Elementary, second place; and Gage Outlaw of Carver Elementary, third place.
Grades 6-8 division
Biological Sciences A: Brennan Dove of Eastern Wayne Middle, first place; Morgan Yelverton* of Norwayne, second place; and Megan Averill of Grantham, third place.
Biological Sciences B: Caroline Foy* of Wayne School of Engineering, first place; Niya Earth of Grantham, second; and Aiden Farris of Greenwood Middle, third.
Chemistry: Collin Carter of Rosewood Middle, first place; Daniel Hartley* of Rosewood Middle, second; and Kathleen Allen of Rosewood Middle, third.
Earth and Environmental Sciences: Clay Grady* and Tyler Lane* of Grantham, first place; Colin Williams of Wayne School of Engineering, second; and Laura Lintner of Rosewood Middle, third.
Physics and Astronomy: William Protz* of Grantham, first place; Derrick Neal of Rosewood Middle, second; and Jayden Thomas of Rosewood Middle, third.
Technology and Engineering: David Williamson* of Norwayne, first place; Hannah Williamson of Wayne School of Engineering, second; and Cameron Merrill and Payne Casey of Norwayne, third.
Grades 9-12 Division, first place winners all from Wayne School of Engineering: Biology A, Kaitlyn Brubaker*; Biology B, Sawyer Strand*; Chemistry, McKenzie Lupton*; and Technology, John Warren*.
* Those who will advance to the Southeast Regional Competition at UNC-Wilmington on Feb. 9.
