We need your help to make 600 children's Christmas dreams come true

A century-old tradition of providing toys and treats for needy children at Christmas is in trouble.

The Empty Stocking Fund, which has made the holiday brighter for thousands of children over the years, might not be able to help all the children who have been selected this year unless more donations are received, and soon.

With the annual party coming up this week, the donation total to date is thousands of dollars short. So, The News-Argus, along with co-sponsors the Goldsboro Woman's Club and the Continental Society, are asking Wayne County residents to do as they always have done -- come through in the clutch to make the fund drive successful.

Most of the donations come from individuals, or church or civic groups. Every dollar goes directly to help a child. There is no overhead. Everyone who works with the fund is a volunteer.

Send donations to: ESF, P.O. Box 10629, Goldsboro, NC 27532 or just drop them off at the newspaper office at 310 N. Berkeley Blvd.
