Wayne Community College will host a talk on the situation in the Middle East, possible outcomes and ways the United States might respond.
"Politics of Iran, Syria and Lebanon in the Middle East and U.S. Options" will be presented by Dr. Jalil Roshandel, associate professor of political science at East Carolina University.
The event is free and open to the public. It will take place Nov. 15, at 7 p.m. in Moffatt Auditorium in the Wayne Learning Center (main building) on the college's main campus in Goldsboro.
"There is no doubt that the Middle East is expecting significant changes in the near future," Dr. Roshandel said. "In the case of Syria, there are other states such as Iran, Lebanon and even Russia and China involved that add to the complexity of the situation. What are U.S. options versus the situation in Syria and what alternatives exist; what consequences should be expected for the security of the Middle East if a war erupts?"
The lecture is one of the "World View" series sponsored by the college's Cultural Diversity/Global Education Task Force. Registration is not required. For more information, contact Anna Anaya-Vega at 919-739-6837.
