MOUNT OLIVE -- A Duplin County man died in an accident on Summerlin's Crossroads Road in north central Duplin County shortly before 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
Officials with the state Highway Patrol's office in Kenansville said James Arthur Barwick, 72, of 205 Beautancus Road, was traveling north on Summerlin's Crossroads Road in a 2000 Chevrolet when his vehicle crossed over the center line and veered into the path of a southbound tractor-trailer about 11 miles north of Kenansville.
Barwick was taken by ambulance to Vidant hospital, but died of his injuries.
The driver of the 1985 Peterbilt truck, Jeremy Marvin Mills, 59, of 439 Mills Road, was not injured and will not face any charges, investigators said.
