The heat will be on at the Family YMCA in Goldsboro on Saturday when judges will separate the champions from the chumps at the Really Chili Challenge. The event is moving from downtown because of the chance of inclement weather, but organizers say the rest will remain the same. Check back at News-Argus.com for more information later today.
Tasters are invited to sample chili for $5 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., when winners will be announced. Tasting passes will be available for purchase at the event.
There's also still time to purchase your $1 chance to win the News-Argus Chili Basket, complete with chili pot, autumn seasonal towels, hot sauce, spices, a cookbook and a $25 gift certificate for meat -- a $110 value.
Tickets can be purchased at the newspaper office, from any employee or at the News-Argus chili booth Saturday. The drawing will be held at 2 p.m.
All proceeds from the event, which will be held rain or shine, benefit the Community Soup Kitchen.
