Wayne Community College Continuing Education will start quilting and jewelry-making classes this week.

The quilting course will be taught Mondays, Sept. 10-Oct. 15, 6-9 p.m. in Room 106 of the Spruce Building on the college's main campus. This class will teach how to use tools and techniques to cut cloth, piece it together in various patterns, sash the blocks, and add borders. Students will create five blocks that will be made into a wall hanging or table topper.

The jewelry making course will be held Tuesday evenings, 6-9 p.m., Sept. 11-Oct. 6 in Room 207 of the Azalea Building. Students will gain an understanding of various styles of jewelry and learn how to create beaded necklaces, earrings and bracelets.

Students may register and pay the $35 fee for either class in advance at the Continuing Education Division's customer service desk in the Walnut Building or at the first class session.
