Man, 77, found dead in creek

SMITHFIELD -- A Smithfield man found dead in a creek near his home along Crantock Road has been identified by the Johnston County Sheriff's Office as Edwin Summers, 77.
Summers' body was discovered in the creek west of Smithfield with a riding lawn mower on top of him at about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday.
According to Johnston County Sheriff's Office spokesman Tammy Ammon, lawmen are still investigating whether the cause of death was accidental drowning or a heart attack.
An autopsy has been ordered and the body has been sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Chapel Hill to determine the cause of death.
