Two arrested in Duplin County murder

Full SizeKENANSVILLE -- A man and his stepson have been arrested by the Duplin County Sheriff's Office, accused of murdering a Duplin County man and dumping his body alongside a road.
Herbert Stroud, 69, and Jeremy Stephens, 20, of 779 Beasley Mill Road, Warsaw, were arrested shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday and charged with an open count of murder and felony larceny.
They are being held without bond in the Duplin County Jail.
The men were scheduled for their first court appearance this morning.
The body of Henry Bouyer, 37, of Magnolia was discovered Aug. 21 by a person who was on his way to work.
The body had been left alongside an isolated stretch of Carroll's Road near its intersection with Henry Best Road just west of Warsaw.
Sheriff Blake Wallace this morning said he could not comment on the specifics of the case because of the ongoing investigation.
However, the investigation showed the men were not only involved in the murder of Bouyer, but that his motorcycle had been stolen, too, Wallace said.
"We have pretty strong evidence of their involvement," he said. "We received some information from the public that was helpful, but it was the hard detective work. They worked around the clock.
"The SBI was very helpful, and I am glad that we were able to provide some initial closure to the family."
