Jurors send up charges in 22 cases

The Wayne County grand jury has handed down 22 true bills of indictment for July, including charges of statutory rape, kidnapping, child abuse, taking indecent liberties with a child, cruelty to animals and nearly a dozen drug violations.

Grand juries in North Carolina are convened to determine whether the facts constitute probable cause for the prosecutor's office to proceed with court proceedings against a person charged with a crime. They are made up of 12-18 people impaneled by the Superior Court, usually for a term of one year.

These true bills were returned by the Wayne County Grand Jury:

* Gustavo Gaspar, 36, of Dudley, rape of a child by an adult offender, statutory rape of a 13-year-old, taking indecent liberties with a child, statutory sex offense of 13-year-old.

* Isaiah Martin, 18, Selma, first-degree kidnapping, assault with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

* Yondra Wooten, 25, 908 S. Audobon Avenue, felony child abuse.

* Johnny Ray Willis, 29, 1005 Harris Street, indecent liberties, lewd and lascivious act.

* Nicholas Shields, 18, 407 W. Grantham Street, breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, resisting a public officer, possession of stolen goods.

* Roger Wade Houston, 50, 903 Hopkins Street, cruelty to animals.

* Kenneth Dekeyser, 44, 1000 Devereaux Street, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, habitual felon.

* Joseph Irvin Powell, 38, of Mount Olive, possession and distribution of an immediate precursor chemical.

* Katrina Anderson Whaley, 46, of Dudley, possession and distribution of an immediate precursor chemical.

* Michael J. Lozier, 29, of Mount Olive, possession and distribution of an immediate precursor chemical.

* Christopher Mark Adams, 29, 112 Deer Meadow Drive, possession and distribution of an immediate precursor chemical.

* Christopher Adolph Jones, 35, of Mount Olive, possession and distribution of an immediate precursor chemical.

* Lance Patrick Gardner, 28, of Princeton, manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of an immediate precursor chemical to manufacture methamphetamine.

* Casey Roberto Madox, 20, of LaGrange, breaking and entering, injury to real property, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen goods, resisting a public officer.

* Evelyn Nicole Tucker, 28, of Pikeville, possession of a controlled substance.

* Leland Daniel Underhill, 32, of Stantonsburg, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

* David Jae McCarty, 23, of Dudley, breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, larceny, possession.

* Janelle Kay Ham, 26, 401 Whitfield Drive, forgery, uttering.

* Jonathan Seaman, 30, of Proctorville, first-degree burglary.

* Ryan Oshea Hall, 19, 110 N. James Street, possession of a controlled substance, keeping and maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of controlled substances, possession of a stolen firearm.

* Kenneth Lamel Fullard, 23, 706 W. Chestnut Street, possession with intent to sell and deliver controlled substances, driving while license revoked, keeping and maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances.

* Lashawn Anthony Mccullen, 26, Mount Olive, selling a controlled substance, delivering a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance.
